Posted on

You want to catch sprinkler issues as quickly as possible, so you can prevent the situation from getting any worse. You'll be able to read about some ways a sprinkler system can act when there are problems with it. If you notice these things happening with your sprinklers, then you want to call someone out to fix the problem. If you ignore a repair issue, it can cost you a lot more time, money, and hassle in the future. Here are some signs of sprinkler problems to be on the lookout for:

The sprinklers are watering inconsistently

There are many ways to tell if your sprinkler system is watering your lawn inconsistently. Some of the signs that this is happening include seeing puddles of water, having wet sidewalks, seeing the water going into the street, or noticing brown spots in areas of the lawn. If this is happening, then you'll need to have the sprinklers repaired. Otherwise, there will be parts getting too much water, which can kill your lawn and plants, as well as create a breeding ground for mosquitoes. This issue may be caused by a leaking valve or a malfunctioning sprinkler head. You'll also have areas not getting enough water, causing things to die in those areas as well.

There are some sprinkler heads that are sputtering

You should watch the sprinklers while they are on once in a while. This way, you will notice if the sprinkler heads are sputtering. If you see them sputtering, then this could mean that the water pressure is either too high or too low. Or, it could be that there is a crack in the system or another issue that needs to be repaired.

There is a problematic sprinkler head

There are a number of issues that can happen to a sprinkler head. You can have a sprinkler head that is visually damaged. The sprinkler heads can be easily damaged because they can be run over by the mower, be run over by an automobile or bicycle, they can end up with dirt down inside of them, or they can be stuck, so they don't come up when the rest of the system is on. Look at all your sprinklers and make sure they are all up when the system is on, they are all down when it's off, and there are no pools of water around one of the sprinkler heads. If you do spot any problems, then call to have someone come to repair them right away.
